Editorial Policy

Who we are

Spiritly is an online drinks magazine and blog from New Zealand, covering wine, spirits, beer, cider, cocktails and low and no-alcohol drinks. Our editor is Aj. You can reach us at hello@spiritly.co.nz.

Editorial independence

Spiritly is a magazine, not a shop: it doesn’t sell alcohol, it doesn’t link to or promote shops, and no brand, producer or retailer can pay for coverage, ratings or placement. If that ever changes for a particular page, we will say so clearly at the top of that page.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help with research and to produce first drafts. Every story is reviewed, checked and edited by our editor before it is published, and the editor decides what runs. Stories are credited to the desk that covers the subject, with the editor named on each one.

Accuracy and sources

Facts about products, producers, history and events are checked before publication. When a story is based on news reported elsewhere, we credit and link the original source. If we can’t verify something, we leave it out.

Tastings and recommendations

We only publish a tasting note or rating for something a person on our team has actually tasted. Recommendations are made on merit; nobody pays to be included.

Sponsored content and affiliate links

Spiritly doesn’t currently publish sponsored content or use affiliate links. If we ever do, it will be clearly labelled.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email hello@spiritly.co.nz. We fix mistakes promptly and note significant corrections on the story.

Responsible content

Our stories are written for adults. We never encourage excessive or irresponsible drinking, and we never suggest alcohol is needed to relax, celebrate or fit in.
